About Us

DT Global Enterprises was founded in response to the overwhelming need for increased diversity and minority retention in academic institutions and corporate businesses.

The concept of DT Global Enterprises took root long before it was founded in early 2006. The founders, Don Hutchison and Theron Barr, have been involved in the urban community for many years. They are fully committed to helping underprivileged ethnic minorities overcome the many roadblocks, commonly found in the inner-city, that keep them from succeeding in life. From counseling young jail inmates to empowering young, college-educated professionals, Don and Theron have been there to lend a hand.

DT Global Enterprises is allied with corporate businesses, non-profit organizations and world-class academic institutions to improve the fortunes of ethnic minorities across the nation.

Executive Staff:

Donald (Don) Hutchison, Co-founder of DT Global Enterprises, is passionate about improving the lives of ethnic minorities who, like him, come from inner-city backgrounds.

Don was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Henry Ford High School, of the Detroit Public School system, in 1989.

At the age of 19, Don joined an engineering/technology program at Focus:HOPE - a prominent human and civil rights organization - in Detroit, Michigan. Don excelled as a student and was chosen to represent the organization at the highest levels of city, state and federal government.

The highlight of his time at Focus:HOPE came in 1994 when he was asked to speak on a panel with President Clinton, in Washington D.C., to discuss the effectiveness of the engineering program. Don was also later invited to the White House to witness the signing of a job training bill put into effect by the president.

Later that year, in Detroit, Don had the honor of touring President Clinton, and a host of Michigan dignitaries, around the Focus:HOPE campus, during the president's visit to the city.

Don graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology from Lawrence Technological University, in Southfield, Michigan. He obtained a Master of Science in Manufacturing Operations degree from Kettering University, in Flint, Michigan.

Don worked for General Motors Corporation (GM) for 10 years and was promoted several times, ultimately to Staff Manufacturing Engineer. He was a key player in many successful product launches and helped the company implement vital technology in assembly plants to help improve efficiency and streamline engineering operations.

During his time at GM, he successfully completed two international assignments, living in Wiesbaden, Germany for over two years. During these assignments he traveled extensively throughout Western Europe and was instrumental in the commonization of the North American and European engineering centers.

Don was also selected to be an official mentor to minority co-op students to support them as they transitioned to the professional environment.

Don has been married for 15 years. He and his wife, Rebecca, have 3 children: Donald, Brooke and Chloe.
